Perbedaan “Do” dan “Does”

Do dan does adalah verb atau kata kerja memiliki pengertian yg sama dan penggunaan nya pun juga pada posisi yang sama. yang membedakan dari kedua kata tersebut adalah subject nya.
untuk lebih jelas, silahkan lihat contoh dibawah ini

1. yes, i do
2. no, you do not
3. they do the homework
4. let us do it

Empat contoh tersebut memiliki subjek yang diikuti oleh do (i, you, we, they). Selanjutnya, they dapat juga berganti dengan nama orang ataupun nama benda dan hewan, namun harus lebih dari satu. Contoh nya:

1. Andi and Reni do the homework together.
2. Do cat and dog always fight?
3. Do the wolves hunt deer together?
4. Yes, the wolves do

Subject i, you, we, dan they tidak bisa di ikuti oleh kata does, karena kata does hanya diperuntukkan bagi pihak ketiga tunggal yaitu she, he, dan it.

1. Yes she does
2. He does the homework alone
3. Does it have wings?
4. Bonnie does the job every day

Kata does selalu mengikuti subject seperti di atas, she, he, dan it. selanjutnya, she dan he bisa di ganti dengan nama orang tersebut, sementara it bisa di ganti dengan benda atau hewan.

1. Yes, Ani does
2. Toni does the homework alone
3. Does Komodo have wings?

Pada kalimat negatif, tinggal ditambahbahkan saja not setelah do atau does. Sehingga kalimatnya dapat menjadi seperti dibawah ini:

• Adi does the homework at home (+)
• Adi does not do the homework at home (-)
• Does Adi do the homework at home? (?+)
• Does not Adi do the homework at home?  (?-)

Penggunaan kata does not dan do not sering juga disingkat menjadi doesn’t dan don’t.

• does not = doesn’t
• do not = don’t
