Apa itu Collective Noun?

Collective noun adalah kata benda yang terdiri dari sekumpulan orang atau benda. Contohnya seperti: group, herd, buch, dan staff. 

Walaupun terdiri lebih dari satu noun, collective noun dianggap sebagai singular noun. Seperti kata “team” atau “group” yang dianggap sebagai suatu kesatuan, bukan sebagai individu-individu. Oleh karena itu, collective noun akan menggunakan singular verb walaupun kadang-kadang juga menggunakan plural verb, tergantung pada niat si penulis/pembicara.
